The function of the sommelier involves multifaceted aspects of wine service, stock and control.
Skills and Experience:
Wine Diploma – sommelier qualification • Basic international wine course, WSET level 2/3 • Computer literate. Excel, word documents, emails, • Experience in hospitality / guest interactions and service • Valid SA driver’s license • Strong sales skills • Sound wine knowledge • Physically able to transfer wine & stamina • Organised and excellent admin skills • A developmental approach to staff • Solid computer skills • Excellent personal presentation • Valid Driver’s Licence • Be in possession of a valid South African work permit
Job Functions and Expectations:
Wine service during meals, including imparting passion for wine to guests • Recommending wine according to menu and guest preference. • Hosting wine tastings. • Cellar stock and control • Control over bulk cellar, physically transfer wine • Sales, invoicing, stock & other relevant administration
